A multi-million pound scheme is set to help vulnerable families with round-the-clock care for teenagers.

The £2million project run by Enfield Borough Council and supported by the government, will support young people at risk of entering care with special teams of social care and mental health experts.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for education, children’s services and protection, said: “This funding will help us to support families and young people by raising their aspirations, giving them the focus and desire to improve their lives and through active interventions helping them to cope in a complex world.

“We are determined to improve young lives. Our plans are taking shape as we build a strong team that can offer support in care, health, education and work.”

Children and Families Minister Edward Timpson added: “This innovative programme will deliver real results for vulnerable children and families in Enfield by focusing on the things that really matter and placing them at the heart of decision making.

“Having worked as a family lawyer in the care system for over a decade, I have seen time and time again how ensuring vulnerable families have the specialist help and support they need – when they need it – can help transform their lives, and I’m hugely excited to see what this venture achieves.”

Support for families will be available between 9am and 10pm, seven days a week.
