A potentially dangerous cloud of air pollution could cause health problems for people with heart and lung disorders.
Smog from the UK is currently combining with pollution brought in on light winds from Europe to cause high air pollution.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs issued a bulletin yesterday, warning that pollution levels in London and the south east of England will rise today.
The levels predicted in north London and Hertforshire are moderate, with higher levels further east in the city.
Experts say adults and children with lung disorders, and adults with heart problems should consider reducing strenuous exercise, particularly outdoors.
The worst levels are predicted in north Wales and Cornwall.
Pollution levels are expected to fall tomorrow, but remain moderate, with cleaner air expected to move south at the weekend.
