If you thought your job was tough, spare a thought for the woman who spent the day cleaning the windows of a high-rise building.

Darcie Tesfay, of Widston Close, Edmonton, was featured in the BBC 3 documentary ‘Worlds Toughest Jobs’ which was aired last Tuesday.

The 23-year-old student decided to apply to be featured in the production to test new limits.

She said: “I don’t know what made me apply. I used to work in a shop and I felt like I was bored. I wanted to try something new.

“I wanted to get out of my comfort zone so I thought I’d apply for the show. I had no idea I’d be doing window cleaning.

“I was a bit nervous but excited at the same time. I don’t have a fear of heights and I’d never done anything like that so I thought, bring it on.”

Ms Tesfay, who is in the first year of her degree in education, psychology and counselling at Sheffield Hallam University, said she enjoyed her experience.

She was hoisted thousands of metres in the air in a high-rise building in Toronto in Canada as she slathered soap on the windows.

She added: “I suffer from anxiety and when I was hanging off the harness I had an anxiety attack. They were scared and they nearly had to call the ambulance.

“I’d do it again in a heartbeat, but having said that I’m definitely not considering a career in high rise.”
