Two scouts have been rewarded for helping raise money for charity.

Rachel Buck, 13, of the Enfield Unit and Charley Impey, 13, from Southgate, both scooped £200 and received medals at the Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards along with 91 other scouts from across North London.

Nominated by their peers, the pair have raised money for special needs schools, homeless charities and for their troop.

Ms Buck started a car washing round to raise money for her troop and helped look after a boy at Russett House Special Needs School once a month at weekend.

The teenager also raised money for Waverley school to go to Uganda to help children with severe needs and disabilities.

Ms Impey spent her first night with the troop sleeping in a cardboard box to raise money for a homeless charity.

Greater London scout region ambassador Terry Chimes said: “In a world where it’s becoming increasingly dangerous for the children and youth of today, I’m encouraged when I attend events such as these that promote young people to achieve no matter what circumstances may arise.

"A big well done to all the award winners and thank you to the Jack Petchey Foundation for their continued support.”
