A new performing arts group is hoping to build the confidence of young people as it launches its first sessions.
The Iconic Performing Arts group, based at Kingsmead School, in Southbury Road, welcomed more than 40 children to its first dance class last week.
The group will be offering free trials this term to everyone with its sessions taking place between 9.30am and 2pm for children between three and 17 years old.
Lilly Tello, who set up the performing arts group, said: “We had more than 40 children turn up for the launch of Iconic Arts. The feedback on our social networking sites from parents has just been amazing. On our open day we were extremely overwhelmed with the enthusiasm, energy and talent from all of the students.
“We give our students as many different opportunities to enjoy performing. But we understand it is not just about that it is about much more. It is about building the confidence of each of our students.
“We are huge believers of team work at Iconic and that is why we have made Iconic Performing Arts a fun and friendly environment where students can easily make new friends and each week look forward to the next.”
This term, the school's patron Dax O’Callaghan, who has performed with Spice Girls, Sugababes, X Factor, JLS and Snoop Dog as well as producing music with Kelly Rowland and Olly Murs, will be mentoring people taking part.
