A grandmother and her dance partner hope to rock their way to the top during the finals of Dancing Strictly.

Carole Latter and her friend Peter Serlin plan to perform an upbeat number as they go head-to-head with nine other couples in the competition, run by the North London Hospice.

The 64-year-old grandmother, who works part-time at a school, also volunteers as a receptionist at the hospice herself.

Ms Latter is a seasoned dancer but is more used to rock and roll jive - so is looking forward to trying her feet at something new.

The pair have set themselves the ambitious target of raising £1,000 for the charity.

She said: “I love dancing and I’d wanted to enter this competition for a while but couldn’t find a partner. I met Peter and when I realised he enjoyed dancing, I begged him to join me.

“We chose a track which isn’t too fast because I don’t think we could have done that. I am very excited and nervous to be performing in front of all those people.

“I am most worried about falling flat on my face.”

The competition will take place on February 7 at the Arts Depot, in North Finchley.
