Edmonton's long-standing Labour MP Andy Love will not be standing for re-election in May’s general election.
Mr Love, who took the Edmonton constituency in 1997, will step down after 18 years of service.
The London Labour Party confirmed the news but is yet to make an official comment.
Seen as a Labour safe-seat, there are thought to be many candidates for the position including London Assembly member Joanne McCartney.
Labour party fundraiser Ibrahim Dogus, who narrowly missed out on the candidacy for Enfield Southgate, has stated on his website that he believes he can take on the role.
He said: “I believe I have the ideas, the plans and the experience to win Edmonton for Labour.”

Elsewhere, Joseph Ejofor, a Bruce Grove councillor on Haringey Council, has thrown his name into the hat and believes his “local knowledge” can help him.
Mr Love cruised to victory in 2010 with a majority of 9,613. Whoever claims the candidacy will be up against Conservative candidate Gonul Daniels and Green Party candidate Douglas Coker.
