Police are hoping their latest crackdown will help to reduce violent crime after three murders in 16 days.

Jack Barry, 52, was stabbed to death on Sunday after an altercation outside a block of flats on The Broadway, Edmonton.

Tottenham man Khiry Ford, 23, died after being stabbed in a Haselbury Road, Edmonton in the early hours of Sunday, November 30, following a street brawl.

In a separate incident also on November 30, Maciej Godlewski, 52, from Poland, suffered head injuries during a fight on Fore Street, and died four days later in hospital.

All incidents happened within one mile of each other.

Superintendent Carl Robinson of Enfield Police said the murder of Mr Barry was “a great shock”.

He said: "The murder of Mr Christopher Barry on December 14, was a great shock to us all and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

"There have already been a number of arrests in relation to his murder and we continue to thoroughly investigate it and bring to justice those who have committed it."

Mr Robinson also stated that extra patrols are taking place to reassure the community.

He added: “The police are concerned about violence in its widest sense across London. So much so we have launched Operation Equinox to combat violence. Enfield Police are absolutely committed to reducing violence and have already committed extra patrols in and around the location of this senseless murder to reassure the community.

“Local officers plan to hold a community meeting later this week to reassure local residents.

“As soon as we have more information to share with you in relation to the investigation and those who have been arrested we will do so."
