A man has died two days after a street fight in Edmonton.

Maciej Godlewski, 52, from Poland, died in hospital after suffering head injuries in a fight in Fore Street, in Edmonton, on Sunday, November 30.

Zbigniew Czarnocki, 62, a Polish national of no fixed abode, appeared in custody in Enfield Magistrates' Court yesterday, charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody to next appear at Wood Green Crown Court on December 16.

The fight took place at around midday and London Ambulance Services treated Mr Godlewski for head injuries before taking him to an east London hospital.

Mr Godlewski died in hospital at 9.30pm yesterday.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled.

The incident is being investigated by Homicide and Major Crime Command.

This is the second death in Edmonton in a matter of days after Khiry Ford, of Tottenham, died when he was stabbed in Haselbury Road at 2.45am on Saturday, November 30.
