A scouting group has its own home after the completion of its new hut.

Volunteers from the age of 16-years-old and above clubbed together to help build Enfield 12th scouting group a new cabin in Morley Hill, Enfield.

The project was funded by Tesco as part of a programme to fund projects in local boroughs and its maintenance team helped to complete the build.

Established in 1940, the scouting group has almost 150 members had been without a central location to host activities and events.

Jas Chadha, Group Scout leader, said: "The fantastic help we have received from the Tesco staff over the last couple of weeks together fund means the 12th Enfield Scouts will soon be able to move into our own home and provide more adventures for all the young people we have wanting to join Scouting in North Enfield."

Nick De Bois, MP for Enfield North, who opened the new hut, said: "Thanks to the hard work of local volunteers and the exceptional support from the Tesco community support team the 12 Enfield Scouts have a superb modern new building, and best of all, ahead of schedule. I was delighted to help open the Scouts Club."

Marcie Thomas, Tesco borough community champion for Enfield added: "We’re committed to giving back to the local community and the renovation work which has taken place at Enfield 12th Scouts Hut was a really hands on way to give back locally. It has also been a great opportunity for young people in the area to learn new skills, and hopefully better prepare them for future career opportunities."
