Children were left “fascinated by nature” when they planted bulbs and picked up litter in a field.
Year four pupils from George Spicer Primary School, in Southbury Road, Enfield, visited Bush Hill Park to put their green fingers to work.
The day was organised as part of a focus week to encourage them to protect the environment and love the area they live in.
Their teacher, Gulen Halil, said: “They thought it was a lot of fun – some had never done it before so it was a good experience. They were amazed by the nature and worms around them.
“It was nice to see them out in their local area doing something to help the environment, and learn how to keep Enfield clean and tidy.
“We’ve also been learning about the history of Enfield which they are fascinated about.”
This week, pupils will be following trails through the town shops throughout the week to find out how they can spend money to support businesses.
