Children took inspiration from an award-winning illustrator when they created their very own murals.
The four colourful panels, portraying the life of a tree over four seasons, were unveiled at Enfield Town library.
With the help of author and Smarties award-winning illustrator Jane Ray, children from local primary schools created the three feet by five feet murals during the school holidays using resources in the children’s library and the outside area.
Ms Ray said, “The children enjoyed finding out about birds, insects and squirrels that inhabit trees; learning about the leaves and blossom and looking at the shapes and network of branches as the seasons change.”
Councillor Ayfer Orhan, Enfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for education, children’s services, protection and libraries, said: “These beautiful murals are a constant reminder that Enfield is a borough with hundreds of beautiful trees.
“This successful project adds interest to the library and shows how much can be achieved through imagination, creativity and patience.”
The project was funded through the Arts Council’s grants for the arts scheme.
