A council manager has been named the best in his field in London.

Andy Rollock, customer services manager at Enfield Borough Council, won the prize for the ‘best manager/mentor’ at the London councils awards.

Mr Rollock won the award for his involvement in the Enfield Apprentice scheme, helping apprentices on his team gain full-time employment.

He said “I am so excited and proud to have received this award for myself and Enfield Council.

“It has not just been about offering the opportunities for young people; it has been about mentoring and developing the skills of my staff in order for them to fulfil their potential and secure employment.

“The proof is in the pudding as they say. All of our young trainees and apprentices in my service have gone on to secure employment, many of them full time, permanent work. For this I am incredibly proud.”

Councillor Andrew Stafford, cabinet member for finance, added: “His absolute commitment to gain skills, training and employment for all the staff in his care is amazing. He has rightly been awarded the gong of best manager and we all applaud him.”
