Police arrested seven people in an operation targeting burglary and dangerous driving.

Operation Lockdown saw arrests for crimes including burglary, handling stolen goods and dangerous driving across nine boroughs.

Officers stopped 513 vehicles and made 117 searches, resulting in 41 people being arrested.

Neighbouring borough Haringey saw a total of five arrests for offences including money laundering, driving offences, handling stolen goods and grievous bodily harm.

Temporary Chief Inspector Martin Kirby said: “This operation has been very successful. We have utilised the knowledge of local officers who have used crime figures and feedback from their local communities to plan where we have deployed our resources.

“The boroughs have been supported by a range of additional units who have increased capabilities to support these local objectives. My aim has been to provide a reassuring presence within our communities and to tackle offenders using the roads.”
