Transport for London has vowed to take “swift” action in dealing with people living near the Cooks Ferry roundabout.

The authority, who own part of the land where people have made makeshift homes off of Advent Way, in Upper Edmonton, have revealed that they are taking legal action against people living on the site.

Members of the River Lea Angling club have become enraged by the number of people living on the site, claiming the people have tarnished the area, littering and intimidating people who pass by.

However, TfL has told the Enfield Independent that that is pursuing legal action to remove people from the area and ensure they do not return.

A TfL spokesperson said: “We are aware that there are a number of people illegally living on TfL land near the Cooks Ferry roundabout in Edmonton.

“We are taking the relevant legal action to remove them from the site, and are working with the local authority as well as the emergency services to agree measures to prevent their return to the site. Once they have been evicted, we will take swift action to tidy and clean up the area.”

Enfield Borough Council has issued a dispersal zone in the area following complaints by people living nearby of intimidation and harassment.
