The manager of an Enfield company was given an icy reception as he cycles more than 1,000 miles for charity.

David Fathers, of Crown Records Management, based in Southbury Road, in Enfield, is taking part in a gruelling 1,250 bike ride across the country for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

On his stop off at the Enfield base, Mr Fathers also took on the ice bucket challenge to give him a cool down from his bike ride.

Mr Fathers is aiming to raise £8,000 on his bike journey and has trained intensely in the past nine months to get up to fitness.

He said: “I’ve been training for the past 9 months and am the fittest I’ve ever been, losing 18 pounds in weight. I will be spurred on by this fantastic cause and the thought of seeing my wife on the finish line.

“Am I nervous? Yes. But am I equally excited? Absolutely!”
