A new cycling scheme is being launched in Enfield to get more people on bikes.

The campaign will offer anyone who lives, works or studies in the borough the chance to borrow a bike for four weeks for £10.

Helmets, bike locks, lights and high visibility vests will also be available.

Enfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for environment Chris Bond, said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone to get involved and give cycling a try. With Enfield having so many large, green open spaces and Greenways, why not give cycling a go and see where it takes you?

“The scheme is easy to sign up to and I recommend anyone who’s not sure about it to give it a try. A number of free help and training days are available, so there’s no excuse not to try it out.”

The scheme has been set up by the local authority and London Cycling Campaign.

It might be a good idea to get those already cycling around Enfield to stop driving through red lights and driving on pavements hitting pedestrians and dogs first, there are too many ignorant cyclists in Enfield already

It is a fantastic scheme. Not a new scheme though, as it was running in May of this year.

It might be a good idea to teach those already walking and driving around Enfield to respect the right of cyclists to use cycle paths and cycle on the road and give them space. Pedestrians are thoughtless and walk in the cycle lanes and cars simply refuse to give way, preferring to bully the cyclist onto the pavement or risk getting hit.

There are too many ignorant pedestrians and motorists in Enfield already.
