A film enthusiast was given the chance of a lifetime as he interviewed the director and producer of a new Disney film.

Nathan Devonish, of Galliard Primary School, in Galliard Road, Edmonton, was able to pick the brains of Disney’s Planes 2 director Bobs Gannaway and producer Ferrel Barron.

The 10-year-old was able to watch a preview screening of the film before grilling the film duo about the making of the sequel.

Mr Gannaway, who has animated characters such as Timon and Pumba in the Lion King, revealed why it is important to make the planes feel as human as possible.

He said: “We want our film to be based in a believable world so that comes with the characters, the locations and the process of fire fighting. It’s not a documentary but we want our audience to learn a process that they didn’t know before - to make this believable we had more than 100 consultants, many of whom were fire fighters, to help us over the four year period.”

Awe-inspired by the day, Nathan said: “Wow I’ve learnt so much, there are no words for it, just literally amazing.

“I enjoyed all of the day especially the interviews but the best bit was when I got to up into the helicopter with the director and producer - this was the first time I have been in a helicopter and it was exciting.  Whilst in the helicopter I also got to ask the director Bobs which character he did the voiceover for - so now I will have to watch the film again to hear him.”
