Students have made a step up from last years A level results.

Pupils across the borough waited nervously last week as they waiting to open their envelopes on a life changing morning.

Overall, a 98.2 per cent pass rate was achieved by students - a 0.3 per cent improvement from last year’s results.

The figure is also about the national average.

As well as the improvement in pass rate, there has been a two per cent increase in grade A* to C passes.

There was considerable improvement for Bishop Stopford’s, saw a four per cent increase in pass rate, Broomfield, 2.5 per cent, Highlands school jumped to 99 per cent pass rate with Oasis Academy Hadley and Winchmore schools, both increasing their pass rates by two and three per cent.

There were, however, slight dips in pass rates for Enfield County, Enfield Grammar, Edmonton County, Lea Valley and St Ignatius.

Enfield Council Leader Councillor Doug Taylor said: “These are excellent results which reflect the hard work and determination of our young people and their teachers. They build on the great results achieved last year and reflect the year-on-year improvements we are seeing in our schools. Well done to all the students and their teachers.”
