A family who teamed up to steal car parts have been found guilty of theft.

Gerard McDonagh, 31, of Sheldon Road, Edmonton, Martin McDonagh, 37, of Monmouth Road, Edmonton, Michael McDonagh, 31, of Saxon Road, Tottenham, Kevin McDonagh, 19, of Hoe Lane, Enfield, and Joseph McDonagh, 31, of South Road, Edmonton, all pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal catalytic converters from motor vehicles.

John McDonagh, 32, of South Eastern Avenue, Edmonton, pleaded guilty to five counts of theft of catalytic converters from motor vehicles.

The family were involved in more than 150 offences relating to catalytic converter thefts across the capital since July 2013.

All members pleaded guilty at Harrow Crown Court and will be sentenced on Friday, October 3.

Detective Sergeant Mick Walker said: “This family were heavily involved in organised and lucrative criminality.  Once identified the evidence was meticulously gathered, resulting in their arrest and remand in custody.

“Due to the diligence of the investigation team the gang were left with no option but to plead guilty at their first opportunity.

“This shows that the Metropolitan Police is committed to identifying and dismantling organised criminal networks that prey on innocent victims.”
