Extra staff have been called in to clear more litter from Enfield’s parks.

More bin collections will take place in Enfield’s eight Green Flag parks which include Bush Hill, Town, Pymmes and Grovelands.

Litter bins will be emptied later in the day by extra staff to prevent litter being spread.

Other hotspots include play areas, which will have extra visits at evenings and weekends.

Councillor Chris Bond, Enfield Council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “We are determined to ensure our parks meet exacting standards of cleanliness, and are a pleasure for all visitors.

“All our parks are very popular, especially our Green Flag parks, however the downside to this is especially during the summer months this can attract additional litter.

“We really want people to respect our parks and make sure they put all their litter in the bin where it belongs, but just to ensure things are kept first rate we have drafted in extra staff to sweep and empty bins to make sure that our parks remain clean and green as they should be.”

Last week members of the public collected more than 30 bags of litter from Enfield playing fields in a bid to tidy up the park.
