An optician has been championing a campaign to give spectacular vision to people in developing countries.

Jaswinder Singh Nagra, of Palmers Green Specsavers, has been called on residents to donate unwanted glasses in order to give people across the world better vision.

The campaign was started by Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) and so far 500 pairs of glasses have been donated at the branch.

Ms Nagra said: “Eyecare is often something that we take for granted living in a country like the UK, but people in developing countries do not have such easy access to eyecare services.

“That is why we encourage all of our customers purchasing new glasses to donate their old pair to the VAO initiative. It’s so easy to do and rather than gathering dust at the back of a cupboard, they can benefit people less fortunate.”
