A nightclub could have its licence revoked after a man was stabbed and another was shot during a late night fight - three hours after it was meant to close.

Golden Palace, in Harbert Road, Edmonton, could be shut down after the dramatic event at 5.30am on July 12, which police are now treating as attempted murder.

When officers were called to the site at 6.20am on the day of the fight by paramedics, they discovered a large crowd inside even though it should have shut at 3am.

Staff spent the evening cleaning up blood and a bullet as well as two spent cartridges were found at the scene but failed to ring the police themselves.

Premises holder Ediz Hatsunc, who was on site at the time, also told police he had no idea the incident had occurred.

Detectives also fear rival gangs regularly sneak firearms inside, sparking extra safety concerns.

Council officers are set to meet on Wednesday, August 6 to determine the fate of the club.

In a statement, one police officer told the council: “I have serious concerns that following this attempted murder, revenge attacks could take place should the premises be permitted to retain its premises licence.

“Innocent members of the public could be put at risk should they attend events at the premises and be caught up in the cross fire of potential future gun fights.”

It is currently open from 6.30am to 3am every day, and on Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, St George’s Day and Christmas Eve it stays open until 4am.

Alcohol is served from 3pm to 2am each day, but from 11am to 3.30am on public holidays.

The meeting will start at 10am.
