A community group has been named Enfield’s business of the year.

Love Your Doorstep beat its London Road neighbour, beauty business Tessa Stevens, to win the business of the year award from Enfield Federation of Small Businesses.

Love Your Doorstep founder Emma Rigby, went head-to-head with close friend Ms Stevens for the top prize.

Taking place in central London on July 19, Mrs Rigby said: “It is wonderful that all the hard work has paid off.  We are in our third year and I have been working 80 hours upwards most weeks to get the business running successfully.

“Times have changed in the workforce and therefore the drive in female entrepreneurship does not surprise me. Businesses need to be flexible and they can best utilise the skills that women offer. In my business, all of the workforce work flexibly and the results are great”.

The group started after the riots of 2011 and aims to bring the community closer together.

The awards were run by the Federation of Small Businesses and included ten categories celebrating small businesses from across the capital.
