A bandstand will be rocking once again as a blues festival returns for a second year.

After facing the chop last year when funding was cut, the blues festival at Broomfield Park bandstand, in Alderman’s Hill, Palmers Green, will return this summer after local companies stepped in.

Organiser Dave Thomas told the Enfield Independent this year’s event will trump that of 12 months ago.

He said: “We are very grateful for the money which has been contributed this year from local businesses and that will allow us to put on some fantastic shows throughout August.”

Each Sunday in August will see different performances with folk and blues acts, to jazz and home grown talent.

Starbucks cafe in Green Lanes, along with Winkworth estate agents, has sponsored the blues festival as well as some money from the Enfield Residents’ Priority fund.

Mr Thomas added: “It has been quite a year and after last year’s somewhat last minute planning, we have been able to plan for a long time and hope to offer a fantastic local community festival for everyone who comes along.”

The money raised from the five week festival will go to the Ruth Winston over 50s centre, in Palmers Green, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, and the North London Samaritans.
