An Edmonton restaurant narrowly missed out on being crowned London MPs' favourite curry house.

Chennai Spice, in Hertford Road, was entered in the Tiffin Cup, a competition of south Asian restaurants nominated by parliamentarians

At the grand final on Tuesday, the restaurant did not quite win the top prize for the London region, taking one of ten regional runner-up spots.

Edmonton MP Andy Love, who nominated Chennai Spice for the competition, said: “I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t disappointment that Chennai Spice so narrowly missed out on a place in the final, but being the regional runner-up for the whole of London, given how many south Asian restaurants there are in the capital, is a massive achievement.

“It was a privilege to be able to host two of the people behind the great food at Chennai Spice in Parliament.  It was a good night.”

Keith Vaz MP and co-chairman of the Tiffin Cup said: “We are delighted that Chennai Spice has been named runner-up in the Tiffin Cup 2014.  This is a great tribute not just to the nomination of local MP Andy Love but also to the constituency of Edmonton as a whole.”
