A pupil studying Spanish is celebrating after finishing fourth at a national spelling bee.
Andriana Chacholiades, of Highlands School, in Worlds End Lane, took fourth place at the Languages Spelling Bee competition at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.
Year 7 pupils from across the country had to spell as many words from one of French, Spanish or German in 60 seconds.
After winning through class, school and regional heats, the 11-year-old has now scooped fourth place in the Spanish category.
Professor Richard Andrews, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University, said: “I was delighted and astonished at the brilliance of all the competitors, and am glad to see spelling receive such sustained attention in modern foreign languages.
"I look forward to next year’s competition.”
