Teenagers have been putting their patience to the test as they learn how to look after children.
The 13 and 14 years olds took part in the Enfield Young People Project in a bid to build self-esteem and confidence by learning how to look after children at a local nursery.
Councillor Rohini Simbodyal, Enfield Council’s cabinet member for youth and public health, presented the awards praising the young people for their hard work.
She said: “At a local nursery the young people volunteered to work with three and four year olds where they learned about child development and how to cope with the demands of young children.
“In classroom sessions they learned about personal development and relationships; prepared their own individual presentations and worked in groups to consider the problems and challenges of growing up. They have done so well.”
The 13-week course was set up in 2011 and to help support the work of the teenage pregnancy unit and help reduce the number of teenage pregnancies in Enfield.
