An anti-violence march through Edmonton will help combat gang culture in the area, organisers say.

The Young Soldiers, a youth group aiming to turn vulnerable teenagers away from violence, is holding the peaceful SAVE (School Against Violence in Enfield) demonstration on Saturday.

Participants will march at 12.30pm from outside Florence Hayes adventure playground towards Edmonton Police Station and on to the concourse in Edmonton Green, where there will be speeches.

The procession will then continue to Latymer All Saints Primary School, where a series of workshops from organisation including the Metropolitan Police and St John Ambulance will be held.

Organiser Jake Lawrence said: “Edmonton’s been blighted by the gang culture among young people over the years. There has been a number of stabbings, gun incidents and anti-social behaviour.

“This is where the community is coming together to look at ways we can combat it. The march will highlight certain issues and I’m hoping this will be a positive step towards eradicating gang crime.”
