A third teenager has been selected to represent the UK at the world scout jamboree in Japan next year.

Julian Newman of the Eastern Enfield Scouts will be accompanying Jagz Barth and Inderjeet Singh, both from Enfield, to take part in the world event.

The trio are among 36 14 to 17 year olds from North London heading to the Far East, and must each raise £3,000 to attend the event.

In a bid to raise the cash, the three scouts have called on the help of Enfield North MP Nick de Bois to offer tips and advice with their fundraising.

Mr Newman said: “I am very lucky to be going to the jamboree, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I will never forget it.”

Mr Barth said: “We talked about how cool scouting is and the great opportunities that come through being a scout.

“We as Scouts are a community within a community who work together to provide support and a place for young people to learn great skills and to push themselves whilst helping the community.”

Chief Scout Bear Grylls said: “Congratulations to Julian, Jagz and Inderjeet and all the other young people who have been selected to represent their communities at the World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015.

“Over the course of the jamboree these young people will be able to meet people from around the world, take part in amazing adventures and experiences and be challenged to think about global issues in a new light.”
