People have only a few days left to sign up for a night hike across Enfield in which walkers wear only their pyjamas and a pair of rabbit ears.

The hike, in aid of Nightingale Cancer Support Centre, has raised more than £70,000 over the past three years.

It will take place on Friday, June 27, with walkers covering a 15km route around the borough. Enfield Borough Council is appealing for people to don their best PJs for the occasion.

Enfield Council’s cabinet member for culture, sport, youth and public health, Cllr Rohini Simbodyal, said: “The Enfield Night Hike is a great event and raises money for some fantastic causes every year. I’d urge everyone to dust off their bunny ears, get dressed up and sign up for this fabulous fundraiser.”

Joan Kearns, director of services and development with The Nightingale Cancer Support Centre, said: “Of course raising money for cancer sufferers and for Chase Farm Hospital is a serious matter, but fundraising, at its core, is about having fun.

“And it’s part of the feel-good factor as well. Everyone comes away feeling like they have done a really great and positive thing. Everybody smiled all the way through last year’s event.”

The route will travel through Southbury Road, Hertford Road, Old Park Ridings and back to the Civic Centre.
