A community fun day will take place to raise awareness of carers.

Enfield Carers Centre will host a family fun day as part of UK carers week staging numerous activities from stalls to a raffle.

Chief executive Pamela Burke said: “Our pledge during carers week is to reach out to many more carers than the 3,000 we know at present and to improve the lives of unpaid carers, many of whom are caring totally unsupported.

“Our work with GPs and hospitals helps identify and support carers at an earlier stage and we also work closely with our colleagues in the voluntary sector.

“It’s vital that carers get help early so that their own health doesn’t suffer.  After all, Enfield’s social services and the health authority rely heavily on carers to continue to cope.

“Our Carers Week activities will raise awareness of these unsung heroes.”

The event will take place between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, June 14, outside Enfield Town library.
