A man who was fighting for his life after being knocked down by a bus is now in a stable condition.

The 55-year-old man collided with the bus outside Cockfosters tube station, in Cockfosters Road, on Saturday, May 24.

However, after sustaining the injuries, it was a further two hours before emergency services were called as passers by were unaware of the severity of his injuries.

One man helped him from the kerbside onto the pavement before emergency services arrived.

The bus driver did not stop at the scene as he was also unaware of the collision. He has not been arrested.

The 55-year-old was taken to a north London hospital and is now in a stable condition.

Police are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
