A bogus water company worker conned his way into the home of an elderly man in Enfield.

The 80-year-old victim was approached by the man as he returned to his flat in Old Road, Enfield Highway.

The man followed the pensioner to his door and claimed he needed to check the water supply.

He then made his way to the kitchen, and turned on the taps while covering his hand with a sock. He was then asked to leave the property. Nothing was taken.

The suspect is described as 5ft 9ins tall, in his early 30s, of medium build, with a large belly and spoke with an English accent. He was wearing a “grubby” horizontally striped blue and silver t-shirt and spoke with an English accent.

Anyone with information should contact police.
