An Enfield gardening centre has won a silver award at Chelsea Flower Show.

Capel Manor, in Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield, received its prize for its entry ‘Small is Beautiful’ in the Flora award section.

The display uses its food production unit, based at Forty Hall Farm, and includes a vertical pallet planter as a way of growing plants in small spaces.

Farm manager Kate McGeevor said: “The feedback from the judges was really positive. They liked the message highlighting the importance of eating local and regional food and the ways this can be achieved. The display shows the potential amount of growing space there is in London. It’s getting a lot of attention from visitors.”

The entry was placed in the flower show's new discovery zone exhibition. The display will be available for viewing until May 24.
