A new learning resource centre has been opened to improve reading skills for students at an Edmonton school.

The centre, based at Nightingale Academy in Turin Road, Edmonton.

Principal Jane Willis said:  “Nightingale has just achieved the accolade of gaining the prestigious Renaissance Learning Champion School status, which is a tremendous honour for the academy and reflects the impressive progress the students are making with their reading skills.”

In partnership with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, the centre will offer a wide range of information and activities in a bid to improve reading skills.

Nikki Kelly, employment and skills manager at Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “We are incredibly proud of our continuing relationship with Nightingale Academy, and are delighted to be here to support the launch of this fantastic learning facility.

“With the combination of an easily accessible positive learning environment like Nightingale’s new learning resource centre, with a variety of bespoke employment and education programmes, we are helping the young people in our community to build a positive future.”
