Myddleton Road is holding its first “cash mob” event this Saturday to help support local shops.

The event, organized by the We Love Myddleton Road Group, aims to make a difference to struggling businesses by asking people to spend £10.

Toby Nation, a representative of the group and a resident of nearby Marlborough Road, believes Myddleton Road is an important part of the area.

He said: “It’s literally in the heart of the community and it’s quite a strangely-located and unusual high street. There is something quite alluring about it.

“We want to see a little bit of regeneration I think. We have got a lot of fantastic people in the community who want to support the road, and there is a lot of affection for it.

“Spending a tenner isn’t a huge commitment, and there are so many great shops on the road. Coming together and showing some support is a really important thing to do.”

The event will take place on Saturday, May 10, and a group will meet at the junction of Myddleton Road and Marlborough Road at 11am.
