College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London to build £3.3million sports centre and library
A college has invested £3.3million to build a new sports centre and library which will be ready for its September intake of students.
The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London built the new sports centre to ensure its students have “exceptional” sports and learning facilities.
Construction of the new library and sports hall began this week and also includes modernising the two-storey classroom block that connects the two facilities.
Jane O’Neill, the college’s interim principal and chief executive, said: “We are investing £3.3million in our Enfield Centre – and we have invested more than £13million since 2011.
“We want to make sure that our sports and learning facilities are exceptional, ensuring that we become the college of first choice for all learners living in Haringey and Enfield.”
The new facilities will be at the college’s Enfield campus and will focus on boxing, racquet sports such as tennis, racquet ball and squash, and football.
It has recently teamed up with Leyton Orient FC’s development programme for teenagers who show promise on the pitch.
