A Southgate park that was transformed with the help of the local community was officially reopened this week.

Grove Road open space in New Southgate, has more plants and trees, better seating and new landscaping.

The opening included a short talk about the history of the site.

Known as ‘Bombie’, the park was formerly the site of two large houses that were destroyed during an air raid the Second World War.

People living nearby were involved in creating the stone artwork and information boards at the park.

Enfield Council’s cabinet member for business and regeneration, Cllr Del Goddard, said:” This fantastic project has transformed a run-down and under-used public area into a brilliant facility the whole family can enjoy.”
