A popular scout leader will represent the UK at the World Scout Jamboree in Japan.

Inderjeet Singh Rathore, known as Sunny, will help to support the 36 young people selected from the UK to take part in Japan in 2015.

The member of the Fourth Enfield Scouts, who meet in Gordon Road, Enfield, is one of 800 adults from the UK to be whittled down from 100,000 volunteers.

Sunny said: “Going to Japan will be a life-changing experience for me. To go as part of scouting is also a great privilege for me. I am really excited to meet other scouts and build long lasting memories.

I want to thank everyone who has supported me and who will support me in beginning my journey to this life changing experience."

Chief Scout Bear Grylls said: “Congratulations to Sunny and all the other UK volunteers who have been selected to lead Scouts at the jamboree in Japan from North London.

"While lots of people know that scouting is all about adventure, they often don’t realise that adult volunteers get to do just as much as our young members through their involvement."
