Thames Water has promised to keep disruption to a minimum in its latest bid to reduce water use.

The company wrote to Enfield Borough Council promising to co-ordinate with the council’s highways team when it installs new water meters across the borough.

The meters are being fitted to reduce bills and give residents more control over their water usage.

Enfield Council’s cabinet member for environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: “We work with all the utility companies to minimise disruption when major works are being carried out.

“We impose very strict conditions on companies which dig up our streets to repair faults to ensure the work is carried out swiftly and the road is left in the same state as it was in before the work crew turned up.”
