Two students at an Enfield college won awards at the 'Enfield celebrating sport' event last week.

The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London took home two prizes from the event, hosted by Enfield Borough Council.

Prisca Awili-Alcaraz won her award for young sports performer of the year after being crowned Cadet Brisith champion at the 2012 National Judo championships.

Sports and public service student Dean Lloyd took home the young volunteer of the year award having been nominated by tutors from the college.

Prisca said: “It’s nice to be recognized by the college for my athletic abilities, and winning an award really helps to build my confidence in judo.”

Interim principal Jane O’Neill said: “It’s wonderful that Enfield Council is taking the time to celebrate the sporting talent in the borough.  Our award winners are extremely talented individuals and their efforts should be rewarded.”
