A man has been found guilty of murder after killing his housemate over a slammed door.
Paul Floyd Marshall, 51, of Elmhurst Road, Freezywater, was found guilty of murdering Orvil Brown, 47, at the Old Bailey today.
The court heard that an argument arose between the two housemates over a slammed door on July 12, 2013.
A fight broke out in which Mr Brown was stabbed in the neck.
Marshall was seen by a neighbour shortly after the stabbing, heading in the direction of Albany Leisure Centre in Hertford Road, carrying a large bag.
Police were made aware of the incident by another housemate, who found Mr Brown face down in a pool of blood in the hallway.
Officers also received a call from Marshall who stated that there had been an incident in Elmhurst Road and that he was involved in the incident.
Marshall was arrested shortly afterwards and told police they could find the murder weapon, a knife, in the front garden of the house.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams from the Homicide and Major Crime Command said: "Marshall callously stabbed Orvil Brown over what appears to be a trivial argument about a slammed door. A man has needlessly lost his life and Marshall will now spend a significant amount of time in prison. I hope that today’s conviction will bring a small amount of solace to Mr Brown's family."
