A supermarket has launched a new service for shoppers to collect food from two Enfield underground stations.

The ‘click & collect’ service was launched by Tesco and Transport for London (TfL) at Cockfosters underground station in Cockfosters Road and Arnos Grove Underground Station in Bowes Road, this month.

Customers will be able to pick up groceries during time slots from 12pm to 3pm or 5pm to 8pm.

Commuters travelling via the Piccadilly line stations will be able to pick up groceries from a Tesco van in the station car park.

Graeme Craig, director of commercial development at TfL, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Tesco as they launch their ‘click & collect’ vans at Cockfosters station car park.

“Our partnership with Tesco is designed to make it easier for our customers to order their goods and pick them up as they make their way home as well as generating income to be reinvested back into our transport network.”

Mrs Ayse Safa, of Southgate, was the first customer to pick up her groceries. She said: "It is just so convenient to collect my shopping from the tube station and the flexibility makes so much sense when you are busy.2

Collection is free until April 27.
