The best and brightest new art printing talent from across the city is now on display at the Jealous Gallery in Crouch End.

Eight of the most outstanding MA graduates, one from each of the major London Art colleges, have been chosen to be part of a special collection known as the Jealous Prize.

Launched in 2009, this year’s winners hailed from The Royal Academy, The Royal College of Art, Camberwell, The Slade, Chelsea, Wimbledon and Goldsmiths and, guided by the gallery’s studio team, have each created a limited edition print.

They are now on display at Jealous Gallery until April 13 and will also be on show at the Saatchi Gallery until March 30.

The artists featured include London-born Charlie Billingham, who received a Post Graduate Diploma from the Royal Academy Schools and with Jealous created a print of a cropped section of an etching by George Cruikshank, depicting fashionable regency dandies walking abreast through a city.

Camberwell MA graduate Trevor Abbott says of winning: “It’s been a privilege to be given an insight into the workings of a professional fine art print studio. This was quite a daunting prospect initially, but all at Jealous were very welcoming and generous with their time and knowledge.“

Their fellow winners were Olivia Kemp, Nicola Thomas, Hwa Seon Yang, Sean Penlington, Teo Ormond-Skeaping and Mitra Saboury.

Once the exhibition has finished their prints will be entered into the Victoria and Albert Museum’s permanent collection.

Gill Saunders, senior curator of prints at the V&A, says: “They offer a revealing snapshot of new ideas and approaches in this ever-expanding field.“
