Four people who wrongly claimed more than £80,000 in welfare benefits have been sentenced at Tottenham Magistrates Court.

Pinar Kilinc, of Southbury Road, Enfield, pleaded guilty for failing to notify Enfield Council of a change in her circumstances and was sentenced to 80 hours' unpaid work and ordered to pay £550 towards prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Pascale Lombulu, of Manor Court, Enfield, admitted dishonestly making a false statement and a charge of dishonestly failing to promptly notify Enfield Council of a change in her circumstances.

She was sentenced to 100 hours' unpaid work and ordered to pay £550 towards prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Karoonah Bungsraz, of Waverley Road, Enfield, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for one year, and ordered to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work after pleading guilty to a charge of dishonestly making a false statement.

She was also ordered to pay £550 towards prosecution costs and a victim surcharge of £80.

Adelar Difika, of Beechwood Mews, Edmonton, pleaded guilty to two charges of dishonestly making false statements.

Councillor Andrew Stafford, cabinet member for finance and property, said: “These people wilfully and deliberately lied about their circumstances and declared that they should receive benefits they were not entitled to.

“Enfield Council takes benefit fraud extremely seriously, and we will always work with our partners to uncover and prosecute anyone we find who is on the fiddle.”
