An Enfield blind group and online organisation have both been beneficiaries of a choral society concert.

The Enfield Choral Society has donated more than £650 to the Enfield Vision charity, which helps to improve the quality of life for the blind and partially sighted in Enfield.

The society also celebrated its 75th anniversary at the concert.

Chairman Mike Seignior said: “We have chosen to donate the surplus from our concert  to good causes for many years and are delighted to be able to pass on this cheque for £672 from our ticket sales.

“On top of this, our generous concert audience donated £415.62 in the retiring collection. A further donation, by the Stock Exchange Veterans Charity, thanks to a member of the audience who was inspired by the work of the two charities, means the total raised as a result of our concert was £1,687.62. A fantastic result."

Diane de Jersey, Chairman of Enfield Vision and vice chairman of the Enfield Talking Newspaper, who also received a share of the pot said: "We rely on voluntary donations like this to fund our activities and events supporting blind and partially sighted people in Enfield, such as our successful IT training courses.

“Many of our members are regulars at the Choral Society's concerts and one is a regular singer. We are delighted with the kind support from ECS."
