An Enfield train station was awash with police and ambulance service after a man was hit by a train.

The man was treated for leg injuries at the scene before being taken to Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel Road, East London, following the incident yesterday.

Social media website Twitter was filled with comments being made about the incident.

Enfield Voice tweeted: "Huge police, helicopter support, ambulance and air ambulance presence outside Palmers Green station."

@TheSaL tweeted: "Loads of cops around Palmers Green tonight. Apparently someone threw themselves in front of the train."

Engineering work was taking place on Sunday between Alexandra Palace and Stevenage meaning that all trains travelling from and to London Kings Cross were being diverted via Hertford North
