Tottenham Hotspur host open day at University Technical College
Spurs legend Ledley King will attend an open day for teenagers interested in studying at a new technical college near White Hart Lane stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur has teamed up with Middlesex University as a joint sponsor of the new University Technical College (UTC), in High Road, Tottenham, which will open in September.
The college, sited alongside the club’s new stadium development scheme, will specialise in sports and health science.
Spurs is currently recruiting Year 10 and 12 students for the next academic year, and is inviting teenagers to visit White Hart Lane between 1.30pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday, February 25, to see some of the activities that the curriculum will offer.
Those attending will be able to get to grips with some of the latest technology developed at Middlesex University – where students have recently had the chance to work with Mortiz Waldemayer, designer of innovative costumes for the likes of Will.I.Am, Rihanna and Ellie Goulding.
Mr King, a former Spurs captain and England defender, will join the college’s headteacher Debbie Ramm-Harpley to talk to kids about the school.
Donna-Maria Cullen, the executive director of Spurs and director of Tottenham UTC, said: “Tuesday’s Open Day will give local teenagers the opportunity to see some remarkable innovations and ideas for the future.
“The project-based learning at Tottenham UTC will give students the opportunity to become part of a new generation of forward thinkers.
“Those who join us next September will leave ‘normal’ behind and could end up creating something that could be used at the next Olympic Games or in the national health system – the opportunities are endless.”
