An Enfield primary school celebrated the reopening of its new look library as part of its book week.

Pupils at Capel Manor Primary School, in Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield, were treated to a double celebration as their state-of-the-art library was opened.

The library was designed by pupils and teachers and coincides with the school’s book week in aid of World Book Day.

Not only did everyone get to see their hard work come to fruition but pupils were given a special story session by ‘Master Storyteller’ Phil McDermott.

The renowned storyteller is best known for his role as Trevor Short in the BBC soap opera Eastenders between 1989 and 1991.

Mr McDermott was on hand to cut the ribbon ahead of the themed week.

Headteacher Tracy Kilkenny said: “It is a pleasure to open our refurbished library centre by an inspirational storyteller.

“Reading is key for children’s development and our main aim in restoring our library was to develop a space where children would enjoy their love of reading.”
